Suture, 2024
Soil, flowers, roots, leaves, seeds, water

The word Sutra (from Sanskrit), meaning “string” or “thread,” is used in Buddhism to refer to texts or teachings. And the word Suture (from Latin)—meaning a “seam” or “sewing” is literally used to close a wound and heal the body. The etymological origins are different from each other but they both refer to thread.

This piece is an exploration of the interconnected meanings of these words, an opportunity to engage with the land, a temporary and restorative act, and a gesture of reciprocity rooted in the deep connection / oneness between land and body.
