Essayettes is a series I began while in residence at Breck Create in Breckenridge, Colorado. The title comes from The Book of Delights by Ross Gay. He writes about the etymology of the word ‘essay’ - which comes from the French verb ‘essayer’ meaning ‘to try’. These pieces are each about 14 x 12 inches which is also the size of my journal. They are a form of journaling, processing, translating, trying - a visual language of color and texture.
